Three 224th ADG Airmen Receive Medals

The 224th Air Defense Group recently presented commendation and service medals to three New York Air National Guardsmen.

  • Tech. Sgt. Angelina Palmer received the Air Force Commendation Medal.  A member of the 224th Air Defense Squadron, Palmer was recognized for her outstanding work in operations while a part of the Western Air Defense Sector (WADS) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.
  • Tech. Sgt. Bryan M. Norman received the Air Force Commendation Medal. A Security Forces assistant flight sergeant with the 224th Support Squadron, Norman played a critical role in developing and establishing the unit’s investigations program.
  • Staff Sgt. Nino Camuglia was awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. A member of the 224th Air Defense Squadron, Camuglia received the medal for serving as part of more than 50 Honor Guard funeral details during his time with the Group.

The 224th ADG is composed of the 224th Air Defense Squadron and 224th Support Squadron, located in Rome, and Detachment 1 and Detachment 2 that serve in the Washington, D.C. area. The 224th ADG provides the forces to conduct the Eastern Air Defense Sector’s (EADS) mission. Part of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the Sector is responsible for the air defense of the eastern U.S.
