Three Promoted in August

Layton Promoted to Chief Master Sergeant

Chief Master Sgt. David Layton was promoted on Aug. 8. Col. David Bartczak, the 224th Support Squadron Commander, served as the promoting officer at the ceremony. Chief Master Sergeant is the highest enlisted rank in the Air National Guard.

Marrero Promoted to Tech Sergeant

Tech. Sgt. Jose Marrero was promoted in August by Col. David Bartczak, 224th Support Squadron Commander.

Kerr Promoted to Senior Airman

Senior Airman Brandon Kerr was promoted in August by Col. John Balbierer, 224th ADG Commander.

ROME, N.Y – Maj. Gen. Anthony P. German, the Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the recent promotion of members of the New York Air National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

  • David W. Layton  to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Layton is assigned to 224th Air Defense Group at the Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS), where he serves as the 224th Support Squadron’s Chief Enlisted Manager.

  • Jose L. Marrero to the rank of Technical Sergeant. Marrero is a Security Forces member assigned to the 224th Support Squadron at EADS.

  • Brandon M. Kerr to the rank of Senior Airman. Kerr is a command and control battle management journeyman assigned to the 224th Air Defense Squadron at EADS.

Air National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.

These promotions additionally recognize the best qualified Airmen and attract and retain the highest caliber Citizen Soldiers for a career in the New York Air National Guard.
