Five Officers Promoted at 224th ADG

Kim Promoted to Major

Rathmell Promoted to Colonel

Col. Steven Rathmell, right, the 224th ADS Commander, was recently promoted to colonel. Col. Joseph Roos, the 224th ADG Commander, was the promoting officer.

The New York Air National Guard’s 224th Air Defense Group (ADG) recently promoted five officers in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Promoted officers are:

  • Steven Rathmell to Colonel. Rathmell is the Commander of the 224th Air Defense Squadron (ADS).
  • Kevin Bunch to Major. Bunch is an air battle manager at the 224th
  • Serena Kim to Major. Kim is an air battle manager at the 224th ADS.
  • Anthony Mara to Major. Mara directs the logistics and civil engineering sections at the 224th Support Squadron.
  • Nathan Raubenolt to Major. Raubenolt is an air battle manager at the 224th ADS.

The 224th ADG is composed of the 224th Air Defense Squadron and 224th Support Squadron, located in Rome, and Detachment 1 and Detachment 2 that serve in the Washington, D.C. area. The 224th ADG provides the forces to conduct the Eastern Air Defense Sector’s (EADS) mission. Part of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the Sector is responsible for the air defense of the eastern U.S.
