Sector garners state-level awards

ROME, N.Y. -- Two members from the Northeast Air Defense Sector garnered New York Air National Guard Outstanding Airmen of the Year Awards.
Master Sgt. Michael Cavalier was selected as the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year and Master Sgt. Thomas Whiteman was selected as the Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year. The Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year was awarded to Sergeant Whiteman in both 2005 and 2007.
First Air Force recently announced its yearly award winners and recognized Sergeant Cavalier as First Air Force 2008 Overall Annual Superior Performer award. He will be attending the awards banquet in May as an award winner.
"The tremendous accomplishments of these award recipients reflect their commitment to excellence," said Col. John Bartholf, NEADS commander. "We are extremely proud of our people and we are thrilled that they are continuously recognized with awards."
The unit also recently selected its yearly award winners.
Airman of the Year: Staff Sgt. Bryan Severs
Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Robert Zoldi
Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Michael Cavalier
Company Grade Officer: Capt. Chris Miller
Civilian: Dan Melie
Honor Guard Member of the Year: Master Sgt. Scott Roorda
Honor Guard Manager of the Year: Master Sgt. Thomas Whiteman
